Less than 1 minute Minutes

The minister of information and MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has warned Ghanaians who are harboring dollars to sell them quickly because the value of the cedi would be rising very soon.

According to him, the government will be pumping about $2 billion into the Ghanaian economy in a few days to address the severe depreciation of the cedi against the dollar.

The information minister, in an interview on Citi FM in Accra, revealed that the government was expecting $750 million from Afremix Bank this week while an additional $1.3 billion was being sourced from cocoa syndicated loans. Due to this, the minister has advised anyone holding dollars to sell them quickly to avoid losing any value.

The Ghanaian cedi is now trading at 10 cedis to a dollar as the economic crisis in the country continues. On Wednesday, 24th August 2022, 1 dollar is now equivalent to 9.89 cedis.
