Less than 1 minute Minutes

Students of KNUST in Kumasi are demanding the resignation of the institution’s SRC president for alleged deceitful and fraudulent practices.

The SRC president of the university, Michael Abuah, has been accused of being corrupt, deceitful and a fraud. He is said to make created the impression on the student body that he was partaking in an educational trip to South Africa along with other SRC presidents of other universities. However, it was later revealed that Michael Abuah was not part of the SRC presidents who traveled to South Africa and the student leader himself admitted to that fact, citing his inability to travel to some inconveniences.

According to some of the students, the actions of the SRC president were having a negative effect on the image of the university and are therefore seeking his immediate resignation. According to some recent allegations on social media, an amount of 42,000 cedis was approved for the trip to South Africa.

In a letter from the Deputy Director of Students Affairs, the SRC president was supposed to refund an amount of 9,100 cedis since he was not able to join the trip to South Africa. However, Michael Abuah has not been able to refund the said amount up to date.

The students have also questioned why the director of student affairs has an interest in student funds and student elections. They have also expressed a desire to embark on a march if they do not receive any answers to their questions by 5th august, 2022.
