The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has alleged that Databank, which is a banking institution in Ghana owned by the current minister of finance of Ghana, Ken Ofori Atta, earned a whopping GHS 159.31 million in its capacity as a bond transaction advisor on bond issuances by Ghana from 2017 to 2021.
The MP has accused the finance minister of benefitting from the financial troubles that Ghana is going through at the moment. According to a tweet by the North Tongu MP, he alleges that the businesses owned by the finance minister chalked their best performances as their owner, Ken Ofori Atta, saw over the downward spiral of the ailing Ghanaian economy.
The MP alleged in the tweet “Ken Ofori Atta’s businesses had their best years even as he destroyed the larger Ghanaian economy which now seeks an IMF bailout. Databank earnings from the transaction advisor role on bond issuance alone from 2017 to 2021 is an astonishing GHS159.31 million. Covid-19 was great for him”
